Strategic Partnerships
Partnerships are foundational to Sustain SC’s work and they power every piece of our programming. Through strategic collaborations with universities, state agencies and aligned organizations, we advance workforce initiatives that build sustainability networks, connect businesses, and share the data and insights needed to drive informed action across South Carolina.
Resilience and Conservation
Sustain SC works with companies and partners with conservation organizations and state agencies to protect and preserve South Carolina’s natural resources—fostering a resilient future for our state.
Innovation and Sustainable Growth
As the fastest growing region in the country, the Southeast is now considered the U.S. economic center of gravity. In an effort to establish South Carolina as the center point of sustainable economic development, Sustain SC working alongside the South Carolina Department of Commerce and the South Carolina Office of Resilience to identify opportunities that elevate R&D, accelerate sustainable manufacturing and strengthen the infrastructure businesses rely on.
Circular Economy
Industries in SC are engaged in the circular economy, re-envisioning our waste as an economic engine for our future. That’s why the Circular Economy is key to Sustain SC’s work in creating a sustainable South Carolina. We work with our members and partners to reduce waste by creating business solutions, including understanding the economics of end product demand and recycling form.
Affordable, Reliable and Sustainable Energy
Through multi-stakeholder engagement with private and public sectors, Sustain SC supports energy engagement to retain and attract industry in our state. We work with our members to identify company demand for meeting emissions goals and requirements to foster solutions for affordable, reliable and sustainable energy.
Metrics and Reporting
Sustain SC is collaborating with both industry and conservation partners to enable transparent and reliable data that reflect the unique needs, goals, and natural resources of our state.
Sustainable Workforce
Building a Sustainable Workforce is a common thread woven through every part of the Roadmap to Sustain SC. The demand for sustainability-related skills in the job market has increased by nearly 40% since 2015. Sustain SC is modernizing the workforce initiative and integrating it across our programing to ensure all learners have the knowledge and skills to promote sustainable development, enhance scientific research, upgrade technology capabilities and encourage sustainable innovation throughout every workforce sector.
