Sustain SC is pleased to announce the addition of Mary Ellen Grom, Executive Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications at AFL, to its Board of Directors. Mary Ellen’s board service will build upon a longstanding partnership between Sustain SC and AFL, further supporting the organization’s purpose to build and grow a more sustainable future for South Carolina at the intersection of commerce and conservation.

Mary Ellen leads marketing and corporate communications across AFL’s global product and services portfolio. She joined AFL in 2017 after 25 years in the IT channel distribution industry where she most recently served as Vice President, US Marketing at TD SYNNEX, a Fortune 200 technology distribution partner. Prior to that, she held roles with ScanSource, Inc. and Experience Engineering, leading strategic customer engagement initiatives with distributor, reseller, retail, financial and hospitality clients.

At AFL, Mary Ellen was instrumental in launching the company’s newest employee resource group, Women Everywhere Connect (WeConnect), which aims to educate and empower fellow team members in building their careers in manufacturing. She serves as Board Chair of the Women in Manufacturing Education Foundation, is a member of the USC Upstate School of Business & Economics Advisory Board and is an active Type 1 diabetes advocate in the local community. Mary Ellen lives in Greenville, SC with her husband, and is a proud mother of two.

“I’m honored to join Sustain SC’s Board of Directors and to support an organization that brings together business, government and community leaders to advance sustainable growth across our state,” said Mary Ellen. “South Carolina’s manufacturing and business communities have such an important role to play in shaping a more resilient future, and I’m excited to help connect that perspective to Sustain SC’s mission of building a more sustainable South Carolina.”

“We’re excited to welcome Mary Ellen to our Board of Directors,” said Danny Kassis, GM Strategic Partnerships and Customer Solutions and Sustain SC Board Chair. “Her experience leading brand and marketing strategy for a global organization, combined with her deep ties to the Greenville community, will be a valuable asset as we continue building a more resilient, competitive and sustainable South Carolina.”
